tried this with 4.4rc2; plasmoid.dataEngine does not work; instead dataEngine() seems to be a global function.

I would recommend telling us novices (who aren't all pro developers) that plasmaengineexplorer is a gui tool and should be launched from krunner instead of a terminal window (from which it works, but isn't as aesthetically pleasant).

Does a good explanation exist which explains the data engines? For example, it wasn't clear when I was examining the APOD option of the Picture Frame plasmoid that the data was coming through the agency of a data engine and that the engine was where corrections to the code were required so the pictures were accessible.
