Appearence (or "Applications' look", "Applications style" ?) * ("Widget"?) Style * Colors * Icons + Emoticons ( merged ? ) * Fonts + Font Management ( merged ) (move Fonts Management to System/Administration?) $ GTK Style and Fonts - Workspace look (or, better name? "Workspace appearance"?) - (those settings make sense if you use a KDE FULL session ("workspace"): plasma, kwin, ksplash,...) * ("Plasma"?) Desktop Theme + Details ( merged; was Desktop Theme Details ) * Window Decoration ( was Windows ) * Cursor Theme ( moved from Mouse ) (move to Applications look?) * Splash Screen - Desktop & Windows ("Virtual Desktops & Windows"?) Merged Desktop and Window Behavior * Navigate Through Windows (new Alt+Tab configuration) * Multiple Desktops * Screen Edges * Window Behaviour * Window Rules ( was Window Specific ) - Desktop Effects Moved from Desktop * General * Effects ( was All Effects ) * Advanced - Screen Saver User SettingsWas Personal ? - My Account Was About Me * User Account ("Account Details"?) * ("Default"?) Paths - Accessibility * Bell (does this supersede "System Bell"?) * Modifier Keys * Keyboard Filters * Activation Gestures * Text to Speech (KTTDS) - Password Management Was KDE Wallet - Personal Resources Was KDE Resources - Regional & Language Seeking a better name * Language ( new: should be easy and straightforward ) * Locale Settings ( was Country/Region & Language ?; now without Language ) * Spell Checker Hardware- Hardware Management - (it is Solid Backends configuration... "Hardware Backends", "Hardware awareness" "Hardware Management Libraries", ?) - "Hardware integration" ?? Was Hardware - Display * Size & Orientation * Gamma * Multiple Monitors - Multimedia - Input Devices Was Keyboard & Mouse * Keyboard (merge with Keyboard Layout?) * Keyboard Layout ( moved from Regional & Language ) * Mouse * Touchpad ( new: if it gets supported ) * Joystick - Removable Devices New * Device Actions + Automounter settings * Remote Control (is this a "Removable Device" or a "Input Device"?) * Digital Camera * Printer (does this fit "Removable Devices" or should it have a new category?) - CD & DVD New; not sure about DVD part * Audio CD Ripping ( was Audio CDs ) * CDDB Retrieval ( seeking better name ) $ Disc Burning ( moved from General Administration ?; was K3b Setup ) - Power Management * General Settings ("General"?) * Edit Profiles * Capabilities -$ Partition Manager Internet & Network- Network Settings * Network Management * Proxy * Connection Preferences * Service Discovery - Sharing * Windows Shares ( was Samba ) * Network Credentials ( was Local Network Browsing ) - Browser Settings (or "Internet & Browsing") (this category could be evaluated in the future) * Konqueror KCMs .. -? Network Manager (NM connection manager) (... or should this be put under Hardware?) $ NM configuration -$ Some other network administration/config app/module? System and Applications("System" , "System Behaviour", "Computer behaviour"(too generic) "System and Applications customization")? Seeking a better name - Applications New * Default Applications * File Associations * Autostart (move to Administration?) - Notifications * Notifications ("Application Notifications"?) * System Bell (deprecate? (Accesibility/Bell) ?) (I don't remember which one is the outdated..) * Launch Feedback ( moved from Desktop ) - Desktop Search - Akonadi Configuration (with a description text/tooltip "Personal Information Management" ?) - Input Shortcuts ("Input Actions Shortcuts"?, "Shortcuts and Gestures?") New; seeking a better name * Standard Keyboard Shortcuts ( moved from Keyboard & Mouse ) * Global Keyboard Shortcuts ( moved from Keyboard & Mouse ) * Custom Shortcuts ( was Input Actions; moved from Keyboard & Mouse ) ("custom shortcuts and gestures", too long?) - Administration * Date & Time (this may be confusing here; but where to put it ? move it as a top level item under System?) * Service Management (was Service Manager) * Session Management (was Session Manager) * Login Management (was Login Manager) ("Login Screen Management" or leave as "Login manager"(proper term for KDM) ??) * Remote Widgets Policy (new name required) * Authorization Policy (Was PolicyKit Authorisation ?) $ Boot manager (GRUB settings) - User Management ("KUser") $?? Distribution tool (to launch Distro config panel, if available) - Task Scheduler (kcron?) (General (random) IDEAS:) Merge Personal and L&F (a la MacOS) and do not split Applications/Workspace appearance Move "Printer" to its own category, move "Remote Controls" to "Input Devices"; and merge "Removable Devices" and "CD&DVD" as "Removable Devices" (with a custom icon with a CD image on it) -- Krop: - Merge CDDB+ AudioCD - Remove "Hardware" (solid backends) - resources/akonadi/file associations/autostart kcm are advanced users things - Akonadi and Desktop search are not System Behaviour - THe advanced tab should be kept - merge the desktop theme details with appearance (since choosing the plasma theme was moved there, that would make sense) - move service manager to computer administration - Remove fonts installer bcooksley: - The term configuration is pointless in System Settings... so Akonadi Configuration -> Akonadi. Giving a descriptive tooltip really helps. - Remote Widgets Policy -> Remote Widgets perhaps? - Input Shortcuts -> Shortcuts & Gestures sounds good. - System and Applications * maybe change to Desktop and Application behaviour - Akonadi and Desktop Search are a desktop/application behaviour - Browser Settings -> should remain in Konq for now I think, unless used elsewhere in the desktop.
