What I was proposing would not have removed the existing translations, but they would not have been listed for further work. For the moment we are not proposing to remove any KDE3 pages. When we do feel that we need to, we will not delete them, but move them to Archive:pagename so they will still be available when needed.
My rationale for asking the question is that it seems unlikely that changes, and therefore new versions of translation, would be needed on the KDE3 pages. However, it's important not to make things difficult for any group of users, so I'll wait to hear what the Trinity Desktop people need. This is not something urgent :-)

Is it possible to add translation for archived articles? There are still some translations of KDE3 on .jp wiki, so I'd like to merge them.
I'd like to take them out of the translate system, make them set in stone, but that situation definitely calls for a stay of execution.Please carry on working with them, and if you hit any problems let me know. I'll try to resolve them. Once you feel that everything is adequately covered we'll archive the pages, keeping them intact.

Can I add translation in old way? (Create page named "***_(ja)") With current translation system, it takes time to merge because I have to check each sentences. (Not all Japanese translations are up to date. Some sentences are added or removed from English version.)
You could do that, but please remind me, when you are finished, that those pages need to be archived manually. I'll do it, but my memory is horribly bad.
It occurs to me that the reason this thread was started was that some ...(ja) pages had translate tags. I you add the <translate></translate> pair, top and bottom of the page, it should get listed with those others. That should help us remember which ones are to be archived.

You don't mean that I have to add <translation> tags on ..._(ja) page and/or original English page, right? Let me ask to avoid misunderstanding...
I'm thinking aloud, and it may not work, but I'm suggesting that we put it onto the Japanese pages. It's nonsensical to be there, which should remind me that I have to manually deal with them. If you have any better ideas I don't mind - I just want something to remind me :-) It won't actually cause them to be in the translation system, as someone (usually me) has to mark them ready for translation.
