About deleted translated pages

Hi Jucato, I ve seen several translated pages of FAQ/fr have been deleted. I agree that this is an open place and site is subject to evolution, but I was surprised to see my work disapeared. Have you informations about next deleted sections ? would you prefer us to focus effort on specific pages ? Are still translators useful on Techbase ? What is planned ? How to contribute in translations  ? Tkank you.

HI Christian,

My apologies. I had no intention on deleting the translated pages and only the English one. I thought I had unchecked the box to leave the others alone. I will try to restore those pages ASAP.

Again, sorry for the mess. Of course, translators are always welcome on TechBase and in the Community wikis and I appreciate the work that you and other translators have done. I will be more careful next time.

I have restored the translated FAQs. Can you please check if everything is in working order?

I'm still unsure what happened since the main English page that I actually wanted to delete [Development/FAQs/General_FAQ] was still there. On hindsight, probably best to leave that alone. That said, the FAQs have been "moved" to the Community wiki where they should be. I should now be more aware of also moving translations (i wasn't the one that moved the original 3 years ago).

Again, apologies for the mess it caused. I will be more careful now with translated pages.

I ve catched an example below but the message seems not been restored. It ask the reader to restore it but is is not acceptable since it is a one shot operation; a global automatic restore of previous translations is preferable:

The pages have been restored in the language but the contents of the translations are empty. (only EN text everywhere). I have tested a single restore for FAQ/55 of above; it works but remains orphan so no more hope. I leave as it is.

I'm really sorry for that. I would gladly do the work to manually restore each translation unit. But if I'm going to do that anyway, I would rather do it on the migrated version in the Community Wiki as those should be (based on a decision made years ago) the final home of those FAQs.

Oh yes its a good idea to merge them there together with the translated pages (eventually putting a redirection on userbase page to community). If any help is needed, dont hesitate to request.
