Plasma's application place

What is this new place?

Since the creation of the plasma project, there always been a few coders (non plasma developers) who were developing plasmoids using the plasma's API. Now that our "KDE" is a framework we have to provide a place with the most awesome plasmoids.

TODO:

  • we still have to decide where we want, this place to be.A new section in kde-apps?
  • Change the word "place" with a better one

The plasmoids that will "live" in this place

The plasma developers after discussion will decide which plasmoids from kde-apps deserve to be there.Note that there will not be two plasmoid which are being used for the same thing. For example there will be only one gmail plasmoid, not two. The plasma team can remove any time a plasmoid which doesn't satisfy her. The plasmoids which will be there must follow some policy.

  • Plasma coding style
  • a page which will describe their usage
  • An active maintainer
  • The usage of the KDE frameworks
  • Their authors/maintainers should provide regularly an updated changelog

TODO:

  • how the plasma developers will decide which plasmoids should be there.
  • find a better word for live.

The responsibilities of the plasma community

  • The plasma developers are not responsible for the bugs of those plasmoids.
  • One plasma developer or a group of plasma developers will be in charge to check if the maintainer of the plasmoid is making a good job or not.
  • The plasma team is suggesting these plasmoids, nothing more.
  • If the plasma team happy about a plasmoid she can ask from the author/maintainer to add a plasmoid to the plasma-addons repository, but only if the author/maintainer give his permission.
