This bug day will take place on Sunday, August 22nd 2010, but feel free to start early. The aim of this bug day is to test the specific Krita bugs on as many different platforms as possible.

Goals of this Bug Day

  • If possible, triage every bug in the list. Different bugs can behave differently depending on the platform you run Krita on.
  • Be sure to join #kde-bugs on, as this is where the bug-day will be coordinated. (You can even join now!)
  • You should be working with KDE SC 4.4 and you absolutely HAVE TO use Krita compiled from trunk. Instructions are available on the following page:
If you're having trouble getting Krita to compile, simply ask on our IRC channel. Boudewijn Rempt and others will be around to help everyone get started.
Please specify anything you notice which might help the developers decide whether a bug is already fixed or still present no your system.

Keep this page updated!

After triaging a bug which is still reproducible for you it would be great if you could add yourself to the CC field in bugzilla to get informed about updates. This way you can see if it's worth retrying if the bug has gone away in later versions.

Tell developers what you are testing with. Please note your version of KDE SC (or the revision number if running from trunk). Please also note your version of Krita as well as the CPU, the amound of RAM, your video hardware and drivers you're running with.

Please give distro/version or SVN branch/trunk with revision below:

IRC Nickname KDE version Krita version CPU RAM Graphics hardware Driver
Lemma r1160177 r1166473 Q6600 8 GB NVIDIA 8600 GTS binary 256.35
slangkamp 4.4.5 svn trunk Core i5 4 GB Radeon HD 545v fglrx
grundleborg svn from 4.5 RC time r116679 Core 2 Duo 3GB Intel Intel something-or-other

Please be sure to sign every bug or comment you add to this page with your irc nickname. You can use the wiki markup ~~~ to insert your wiki username automatically (but only do this if it is the same as your IRC nickname, otherwise write your IRC nickname in by hand).

The following list contains all bugs we're going to triage during this BugDay. Please simply your experience with the bug below the bug.

Please note that this is a page layout designed to reduce the number of edit conflicts on this page. Each section is its own subpage. The best way to work with this is to enable section editing by going to "My preferences" > "editing" > "Enable section editing via [edit] links". When you click edit you will automatically edit the subpage.

bug #247954

krita hangs when using the deform tool
  • Painted for some time and it crashed. Attached backtrace to bug. --Slangkamp 07:01, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
  • I can reproduce this bug as well. Backtrace looks equal. Attached a comment to the bug. Lemma
  • Can't reproduce. Tried deforming for about 5 mins with no crash. Grundleborg

bug #243043

High memory load under normal usage
  • I can see RAM usage increasing if I try the operations the original reporter did. However I couldn't observe a rise as high as he did. Unfortunately I fear tracking RAM usage that way might be a bit too fuzzy. Didn't comment on the bug as I wasn't sure if it's actually worth it. Lemma
  • No noticeable ram usage increase for any of the operations the original poster listed. Grundleborg

bug #241289 (fixed)

Brush cursor shape 'outline' : laggy , black on black background, disappear when painting
  • Outline is fast, rest is fixed --Slangkamp 07:07, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Works like a charm for me. This bug should be FIXED. Lemma

bug #222939 (closed - works)

Selecting layers very slow & CPU usuage very high
  • Tested with Angel.kra, selecting layers has no delay. --Slangkamp 07:18, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
  • As I'm having trouble with lcms2 I could only test with an RGB image. I didn't notice any particular delay or high CPU usage on switching layers. Lemma

bug #247006

Krita crashed when requesting Print Preview
  • No crash on print preview with several images, but I don't have a real printer connected. --Slangkamp 07:56, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
I got a crash when using print preview on CMYK template. --Slangkamp 21:29, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Can't reproduce either (and I *do* have a printer attached) Grundleborg

bug #235278

Krita crashes randomly whilst painting
  • Can't reproduce. --Slangkamp 08:22, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

bug #217811 (closed - works)

Crop with ratio and then wavelet denoise crashed Krita
  • Can't reproduce this crash any longer. Lemma

bug #247434

Crash: Added shapes, added drop shadow, saved, closed, crashed
  • After clicking on the layer drop shadow action (shape layer). The dialog doesn't show up. --Slangkamp 07:23, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Same as Slangkamp. Using shadows for regular layers works fine but doesn't work for flake shape layers. No crashes. Lemma

bug #245143

Krita hangs when you paint with Mixing Brush outside the canvas
  • Reproduceable. Hangs after painting outside the canvas. --Slangkamp 07:25, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

bug #243687

Crash on painting
  • Still reproduceable. --Slangkamp 08:10, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
  • I can reproduce this bug. Lemma

bug #242505

Krita crashes with brightness/contrast or levels on exr image
  • Crashes as described. --Slangkamp 07:55, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
  • I can reproduce but get a different backtrace. Lemma

bug #239836

crash after resizing
  • I can't reproduce this bug. I tried scaling both a JPG and an OpenEXR. Lemma

bug #247791 (closed - works)

Switching to openGL canvas crashes krita every time
  • Works for me. --Slangkamp 07:27, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Works for me as well. Lemma

bug #245565

Crash while using shape layer
  • Changing composite op on a shape layer works without any problems. --Slangkamp 08:20, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Works for me as well. Can't reproduce this bug. Lemma

bug #239977

Invisible value in some themes in our custom widget
  • Values almost invisible with qtcurve theme. Works with Oxygen. --Slangkamp 07:48, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Values invisible with the supplied stylerc. I attached a screenshot of a progressbar showing that the problem is with the property widget used and not the actual style. Lemma

bug #231950

Text brush appear inverted after some clicks
  • Happens every time when painting with text brush. --Slangkamp 07:29, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
  • No idea if I'm doing anything wrong but using the pixel pencil/text brush, I only get inverted test. Lemma

bug #214632

glitches are visible when using default tool selection or shape overlays
  • Small artifacts when moving shapes or decorations. --Slangkamp 07:46, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
  • Confirmed. Small artifacts here as well. Lemma

bug #245127 (fixed)

Multi layer files don't display at first when opening
  • Happens when opening file with activated OpenGL. --Slangkamp 07:31, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
  • I can reproduce this bug as well. Lemma

bug #244910

Krita 'Spray Pen' / 'Chalk' use excessive memory & become very slow
  • Painting with chalk on CMYK image freezes Krita. Spray works. --Slangkamp 07:38, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
  • I can reproduce this using the chalk brush (not spray) using all colorspaces but RGB and Grayscale. The system only gets unresponsive once Krita is being swapped :-) Lemma

bug #242800

I can create a hole (chess board) when changing the layer opacity and arithmetic
  • I can't really reproduce this bug. Though the checkered area stays first after performing the steps, there soon is a full repaint. I do however get varying other results like spontaneous crashes (DrKonqi didn't trigger so no backtrace) or Krita freezing my X session. Lemma
