Adding new course skeletons
Currently Artikulate consists of one course skeleton called “basic course skeleton”. It gathers phrases in English divided into several units: Numbers, Alphabet, Tourism, Family, Sport, Entertainment, Clothing, At the supermarket, At the doctor's, Time and Dates, Weather, Countries and Cultures and At the restaurant. This is a skeleton that covers basic vocabulary from different areas while learning a new language. However we predict that there will be a need of creating additional skeletons that will cover more advanced or more specific topics. For example one could create a skeleton with different medical vocabulary that would be of interest to only some specific users. Therefore we allow creation of additional skeletons. Below there are detailed instructions how to do it.

Adding units to a course skeleton
You can add new units to a course skeleton. Each unit is a set of around 50-100 phrases connected with the same topic. To add a new unit you need to start Artikulate and go to the dialog "Course editor" (top-left button). The slide bar with two options will appear and you need to choose “Edit skeletons” option. Once you have done this a list of different course skeletons will appear. Choose the one you want to add your unit to. Now on left side of the screen you will see a list of units that are already available in this course. Just above the list you should find “Add Unit” option. When you click on it a “New Unit” will appear on the bottom of the list. Scroll down to your “New Unit” and click on it. Now in the middle of the screen you will see your new unit ready for editing. You can now change the name of “New Unit” to appropriate topic by clicking “paper and pen” icon on the right of the unit name. You need to save your changes by choosing OK button.
