一般

表現・専門用語・ユーモア

翻訳する際、元の言語に特有の表現、ネタ、専門用語に出会い、適切に翻訳することが難しく感じられることがあるかもしれません。

そのような場合には、正確に訳そうとせず、記事が伝えようとしている、文章のコンセプトやポイントを訳すとよいでしょう。 : メッセージ全体を訳すよう注意し、ユーモアや口語表現のニュアンスが失われても気にしなくて構いません。

固有名詞

企業名や製品名は翻訳しないでください。固有名詞である企業名や製品名は、常に英語のままにし、翻訳対象の言語にすべきではありません。

人名については、ラテン系言語の名前はアルファベットのままにしておくべきですが、非ラテン系言語のアルファベットに音訳しても構いません。

専門用語

複雑な文章構造や、技術的な専門用語を翻訳する場合は、翻訳共有サイトのTAUSを調べてみるのもよいでしょう。

翻訳したいテキストを入れ、どの言語からどの言語に翻訳したいかを選択するだけです。全ての言語で全ての用語が含まれている訳ではありませんが、正確な翻訳を行うためには便利なツールでしょう。

作品のタイトル

書名、プログラム名、機能名、ディストリビューション名、その他の製品名/作品名を発見した時は、あなたの言語において、そのタイトルが(発行者やディストリビューターなどによって)公式に翻訳されていないかを確認し、翻訳されている場合はその訳を使ってください。

訳が見つからない場合は、可能な限り正確に翻訳してください 。

Guidelines specific to a Language

UserBase proposes to have Team Leaders for each language. Techbase may, at a later date, do the same. As we get leaders appointed, they will take charge of a page of guidelines for their specific language, where they will be named. They will have final say on any question relating to their language. The guidelines will be linked from Language-specific guideline pages.

Keeping up to date with development

I propose that the Discussion page attached to this page should be used for orderly debate about general issues noted, particularly issues where existing markup is causing problems. I would ask you to put a Watch on Talk:Translation_Workflow.
