The D-Bus Web Service Proxy has two main tasks:
Beside that, it contains some useful tools as side effects like transformation tools between WSDL 2.0 and D-Bus for the command line.

The D-Bus Web Service Proxy was initiated by Josef Spillner and significantly enhanced and finished by Thomas Friedrich as part of his diploma thesis at Technische Universität Dresden. Information about the thesis can be found here.
